There are two strands to the Australian Curriculum HPE program, Personal, Social and Community Health and Movement and Physical Activity. All students are expected to participate in learning through the HPE program. These lessons are delivered by both our classroom and HPE Specialist Teachers.

During Term 4 Prep and Year 1 students are required to participate in swimming lessons at the adjacent AJ's Sports Club. Wearing of a swimming cap is a compulsory requirement. Costs are involved in this participation.

If the outdoor pool is being used, children must wear a sun safe shirt or rashie over their swimming costume.  Sun safety shirts need to be tight fitting, as loose clothing could constitute a danger to children when swimming. The final say as to the suitability of the sun safety shirt will be in the hands of the HPE teacher or the school Principal. Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen at the start of the school day and invited to send sunscreen with their children. If students are wearing as two-piece bather set, they are encouraged to wear a rashie as when splashing around or jumping in sometimes these suits ride up or down.

This school encourages all children in Years 5 and 6 to participate in school sport. The school has a record of high achievement in individual and team sports.  Friday afternoon intraschool sport, prepares students for Gala Day Sports, when students compete against teams from other schools.  All children must wear a school sun safe hat or Netball caps at all times. Netball caps are worn when playing sport and students return their overall sun safe school hats when not on the courts. Sunscreen and water are also strongly advised.

Our school competes against other schools in the District, in team sports such as netball, softball, t-ball, cricket, touch football, soccer, basketball and others depending upon the availability of teachers to coach these teams.  Other sports which students are involved in are athletics, cross-country, and swimming. Team representatives must wear school uniform or attire as directed by the coach.

Courtesy and good sporting attitudes are essential.  Any failure in either of the above areas will result in the child in question being withdrawn from representing the school at any offsite events or inclusive of Friday afternoon sporting activities if school behaviour standards are not adhered to during sporting activities.

Children must wear a school sun safe hat during and when travelling in the sun to and from sporting activities and are encouraged to wear sunscreen.
