Welcome to Algester Primary School

Algester Primary School was established in 1977 and is a dynamic learning environment that provides a quality education for students from Prep to Year 6. We are situated in south-west Brisbane in the Metropolitan Region and have around 1000 students. Classes at Algester are organised around traditional year levels and some composite classes to ensure we meet Education Qld class size targets. We have a diverse student population with around 3% of students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 17% who speak English as a second language and families who come from all parts of the world.  Our students mainly come from the local area but we do have some students from surrounding suburbs but we do have an Enrolment Management Plan to ensure we stay within our capacity.  Our school highly values respect for self, others and place and this is evident in our well mannered and polite students, our dedicated and approachable staff and courteous and friendly office staff.  They are displayed in the attitude towards our work, our sportsmanship, our courage to try new things and in our pride for our school and the way we care for each other.  We actively teach the Keys to Success:  Organisation, Confidence, Getting Along, Resilience and Persistence to support our students to achieve their potential at school.
