Embedding digital technologies at Algester

Our teachers use iPads, laptops, desktops and interactive boards to enhance learning. From 2018, every classroom in Algester Primary School, has been a shared iPad classroom, where every student will have their own BYOD iPad or access to a shared school device between two students.

Students who share school devices are not permitted to take them home.  Our experience is that transformational learning only occurs when students have access to their own devices so all parents are encouraged to provide a device for their children to use at school and at home.

Algester State School has been recognised by the Metropolitan Education Region as a leader in this field and is part of the #qldtechschools program.  Algester State School has also been acknowledged by Apple Education for its creativity and innovation by being awarded the honour of being an Apple Distinguished School.

Algester Primary School takes much pride in being one of the first schools in the Region to be implementing the Australian Curriculum's Digital and Design Technologies Learning Areas across the school.  We are confidently preparing your children for a future of work that strongly embraces technology and the 21st century learning skills of collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving and innovation.  Our approach for embedding digital pedagogies in learning looks like:

All students are required to have a signed Internet Access Agreement upon enrolment at our school.
