Perceptual Motor Program

Our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) for Prep and Year 1 aims to develop a child’s perceptions and understanding of self and of his or her world around them. At Algester this is done through movement and motor experiences that get progressively more challenging for students.

It is more than just a Physical Education programme; rather it has used facets of music, fitness, dance, gymnastics and strength activities to develop the children.

Much of the focus in PMP is the development of Gross Motor Skills, providing students with opportunities to master their body so that movement through the environment around them is done with control and confidence.

To compliment this, the use of Fine Motor Skill activities throughout the programme is aimed at providing students the skills of manipulating objects within the environment they move through.
