From January 2019, the National Disability Insurance Scheme became available across Queensland. The NDIS funds supports for eligible people with a permanent disability in their daily lives to participate in their community.
The NDIS does not provide supports for children while at school. Schools will continue to provide supports to students with disability to access and participate in education and achieve.
If your child is receiving support through an NDIS plan, you may wish to contact the school to share information about your child's plan so the school and your NDIS provider can work together to ensure your child is supported in a consistent way at school and at home.
For more information about eligibility and accessing NDIS go to www.ndis.gov.au or phone 1800 800 110.
