Teacher Strike Notice for Thur 18 July

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Queensland Teachers' Union members have voted to stop work for 24 hours on Thursday, 18 July.  This is the first Thursday after the Winter School Holidays. As the vast majority of state school teachers and school leaders are members of the QTU this means that every state school in Queensland will be disrupted on that day.

Negotiations between the QTU and the government are continuing and we remain hopeful that the strike can be averted.

However, if the stop work action proceeds, you should be prepared to make alternative arrangements for your children on Thursday, 18 July.  Usual teaching and learning will not take place on the day and children will only be supervised by a skeleton staff.

We will keep you informed of the situation but thought it prudent to let you know before the school holidays of the proposed action so that you have as much notice as possible to make these alternative arrangements.

Yours faithfully

Mr Colin Torr

Principal
