Year 4 - Convict Experience

15/09/2016
This semester in History, Year 4 students are studying the life of people in England during the 1700’s; the journey of the First Fleet; Captain Arthur Phillip and the lives of the convicts who were sent to Australia on the First Fleet. To enhance our students’ knowledge and understanding of the lives of the convicts, we are having a ‘Convict Experience’ here at school. There is no cost involved and it will be part of the children’s normal school activities.
Children may dress as convicts for the ‘Convict Experience’. Simple costumes such as an old shirt/t-shirt with arrows marked on it would be suitable. Props such as leg irons (eg made from plastic chains) would be acceptable. The children have been shown some examples of convict dress suitable for the day.
Classes 4C, 4H and 4B will have their ‘Convict Experience’ from 8:45am – 10:30am on Tuesday 4th October.  Classes 4K and 4S will have their ‘Convict Experience’ from 11:45 – 1:15pm on Tuesday 4th  October. This is the first day of Term 4, so the children have the September holidays to organise their costumes.
If you require any further information about this activity or would like to see examples of costumes, please contact Mrs Sandie Schurmann in the library or any of the Year 4 teachers.
